Athina Moisa complicates media; she likes to use wool in ways
other than just knitting or crocheting. She works in a variety of media and
styles, mostly on fabric, but she likes to give anything a go.
Community and friendly homes have been consistent themes in
Athina’s work.
Athina’s art started with her coming to Pablos: ‘I think I must
have a gift for constantly taking on challenges'.
Art has a dual purpose in Athina’s view: meeting people and
learning about materials. Feeling part of group and interacting with the people
who come to see the work is as important as the sense of pride when the work is
hanging on the wall. She uses painting and drawing to plan what to do next.
‘I like all of the artists at Pablos….I see
things differently when I leave; things look different, more interesting.’
