Kirsten Julian

My artistic career began at age 3 ½ when I sold my first painting in my Fathers art gallery. I studied art at school up to 7th Form, which gave me the grounding in art techniques and  styles. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1999 which included some papers in art history.
I joined Pablos Art Studio in 1997 and despite 10 years of not doing any artwork soon picked it up again and have been quite successful exhibiting and selling my work. My predominant medium is acrylics, with some dabbling in watercolour and pencil/pastel drawings. More recently I have taken up photography.
My style has been greatly influenced by the works of Rita Angus, Robin White, and Don Binney which I was introduced to at high school- solid shapes with minimum of shading and strongly defined edges.
My subject matter varies, but is predominantly landscapes and musical themes, the natural progression of my primary background as a musician
