Re-habitation + Re-use - Art made from found objects ...
Following the success of Thom Davey’s apocalyptic visions constructed from discarded objects ROAR! gallery is delighted to present more innovative creations re-using material destined for the landfill.
Thom and other artists including David Boyle, Di McMillan, Gypsy Blu and Reece Tong transform Wellington’s detritus into objects of beauty, horror and social comment.
David applies his unique form of censorship with pots of paint and electric screwdrivers to “ dire and horrific literature”. His bolted books are “firmly closed because they are exquisitely awful and dreadfully diabolical”
Di McMillan expands on her themes from the ‘Nanageddon’ exhibition in 2009 to turn waste electrical wire and fabrics into colourful re-creations of native flora and fauna.
… And Gypsy Blu brings the circus back to town.
Join us all on the opening night
Thursday 11th November from 5.30 – 7pm.
