CREATIVE SPECIES from CREATIVE SPACES

With PABLOS ART STUDIOS : ARTARIUM : TAKE 5

VINCENTS WORKSHOP & KING STREET ARTWORKS

30 JUNE – 16 JULY 2011

FROM THE BEZAAR TO THE BEAUTIFUL

CREATIVE SPECIES from CREATIVE SPACES is a group exhibition featuring an exciting line-up of work from artists working in community art spaces from Wellington, Lower Hutt and Masterton. The art studios provide free access to art tuition, creative opportunities and also a place to work and meet other people.

There is both diversity and unity in their approach and aims, Ian Chapman the co-ordinator at King Street Artworks says, ‘We are not therapists but know there is therapeutic value to the creative process and we have a strong believe in the concept of a healthy and inclusive community.’

Charles Cunningham

Among the artists featured are Reece Tong from Pablos Studios and Daniel Phillips from Vincents Workshop who exhibit widely and have shown their work in Outsider Art Fairs in New York, Paris and Rotterdam.

Images and objects materialise from an extraordinary range of mediums – clay, fibre, plastic and paint. Conjured into life by their imagination over twenty artists have created a wild wonderful and at times weird menagerie.

Gypsy Blu

Daryl James Dermond from Artarium in Otaki produces finely layered works using enamel house paint and Audrey Hall from Masterton has created a saucy Puss ‘n Boots in clay.

Join us at ROAR! for the opening on Thursday 30 June from 5.30–7pm

to meet the artist/s and share a glass of wine.

All welcome.
